Dream Career List
I recommend ALL professionals (including you) create a 100 items list focused on their career. A list is so genius because it helps you define what you want so you don't settle.
If you don't define what you want and need, you'll agree to almost anything. You might get sidetracked by a new job without doing your homework and seeing if it's a good culture fit or responsibilities you really want to do.
Keep in mind that you're not making a grievance list. You're creating a list of all the things that would excite you to go to work and help fulfill your needs and desires.
So, what are some items for your dream career list?
Start your dream list with what you already like about where you're at in your career. What makes you happy? What accomplishments are you proud of? Then start dreaming of everything you want to do, achieve and be a part of during your career.
Here are a few ideas:
Specific roles or titles you want to hold
Compensation and benefits that are important to you
Types of companies you want to work for
Company cultures you want to be a part of
Certain projects you want to lead
Awards you want to win
You can put anything on your list as long as it reflects what you really want. And if you're not sure where to get started, I've got you. Grab your dream career list worksheet right here.
Use the list to measure where you're at right now. And refer back to it once in a while to see if it needs to be updated, if it's time to advocate for changes at your company, or if you need to find a new position that fills more of your dreams.
Are you going to try this? Hit reply and let me know. I'd love to hear from you! (If you're looking for guidance around creating a career you love, check this out.)
